The sea is my home. It's the place I love and I know I can always return to. That's why I have a clear idea of where my next Easter getaway will be. As you can imagine, it will be a coastal destination. Travelling to the beach with friends has always seemed like a great plan, maybe because it reminds me of the summers of my youth, when just arriving at the destination was enough to disconnect from everything. On that note, I have found a very special accommodation for Easter because, as Carla Lloveras, its owner, says "it's a hotel I've always wanted to go to. It doesn't feel like a hotel: it's as if it were my home, where I welcome my guests as if I were inviting my friends or family".

This boutique hotel is called La Bionda, and I can assure you that you will be won over by its warm atmosphere and delicate elegance as soon as you step in. The 17th century building has been tastefully restored preserving its past, especially the stone vaults, the use of exposed brick and the ceramic tiles on the floors. You can tell that Carla is a decor lover. Her idea was to set up a small hotel that would be more than just a place to sleep. "A house decorated according to my personal style, as if I were going to live in it, with all the comforts you would expect from a hotel, but without looking like a hotel". And she found this place on the Costa Brava, in Begur, her summer village.

The renovation, carried out by Quintana Partners Studio, respects the essence of the original house and is committed to sustainability. This is very important, as the values of the project include local development and respect for the environment. In this typical Catalan house, the living room leads to the dining room conservatory, then to an open-air courtyard, where breakfast is served in ceramic handmade crockery, painted by Carla's uncle. There you can also enjoy a glass of wine, watch the sunset, or even have a massage.

If I focus on the decoration, the house is full of unique details, mixing vintage items and modern furniture. The interior design concept, also developed by the same studio, is inspired by the French guesthouses of the 1920s and 1930s. Each room is different because each one is dedicated to a prominent woman from the early 20th century whose personality is reflected in each room, such as Charlotte Cooper, the English tennis player and the first woman to win the Olympic Games, or the dancer Carmen Amaya, a devotee of Begur. The rooms are distributed over the different floors of the hotel. On the top floor you will also find a rooftop terrace and a private jacuzzi.

Undoubtedly, La Bionda is more than a hotel, a friendly and familiar place that, of course, I invite you to visit on your next holiday.

Get inspired by its look.
