The connection to the sea has always been part of my life. Being born near the Mediterranean is something that has had a deep emotional connection with me. The sea's shore is the perfect environment to gather my thoughts during a walk and to find new ideas while my gaze is lost in that horizon where the sea and the sky meet. I love the sound of the waves coming and going, and the colourful sunrises that reflect on the water leaving me wondering whether what I see is real or a dream.

Perhaps it is my connection with the sea that has led me to opt for a healthier and more conscious life. As today is World Water Day, I would like to focus on environmental care, especially for the seas and oceans, and on the issue of drinking water, which is becoming an increasingly scarce resource.

Our lifestyle is damaging the ecosystem. Fortunately, there are more and more people who are committed to sustainability so to continue enjoying an environment that leaves everyone disarmed by its tranquillity. That is why the preservation of biodiversity has become an important value when it comes to shaping my brand of decoration. At Ofelia, we are committed to natural decoration, where sustainable development becomes just another design tool. In this way, I don’t only have sustainable decoration objects and furniture in my home, but these pieces can also reach other homes, thus multiplying their impact.

Sustainable decoration is not a style, a trend, a fashion, or even a way of decorating. It is rather a way of life, adapted to one’s personal taste, and based on the awareness of how each person can reduce his or her ecological footprint by decorating their home.

Ecological furniture, vegetable fibres, untreated finishes... By using sustainable and natural elements, we contribute to reducing energy impact, slowing deforestation and, of course, improving water quality, which is vital to guarantee the protection of the planet and future generations.

Jute, wood, bamboo, cotton... These materials, along with their natural beauty, are renewable and resistant. This is a choice for more ecological decoration that recreates unique atmospheres that have a positive effect on our mental and emotional wellbeing.

These small gestures and choices help us to fully connect with nature and preserve the quality of our water. Imagine... A rug, a cushion and a cotton blanket, a bamboo basket and in the background, the immensity of the ocean. Soft touches, natural textures, light fabrics, and a hand offered to the most precious thing we have.

I wish I could spend more time by the sea! For this reason, I also choose to bring handmade decorative objects into my home. Everything that is handmade, everything that avoids large manufacturing processes, everything that is natural helps to protect the environment and to take care of water. So, I choose decorative and household items in ceramics, wood, wicker; items whose history is healthy and whose future is perpetual.

It is a joy to know that more and more people are following an environmentally friendly lifestyle. We have also managed to find fewer polluting solutions for our homes. Together, we are learning to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining our comfort, functionality, and convenience. I love this new lifestyle and fortunately, I think it is here to stay.

By the sea, time stands still, and stress is forgotten. By the sea, the best smiles and moments are always pleasant. Today is Water Day and, I would simply like to share my own vision of home decoration in celebration of this event. A more sustainable decoration whose main objective is to take care of you thanks to the great virtues of nature.
