There are so many words I could use to describe this place that I think this post would fall short.  Locanda Rosa Rosae is one of the most charming restaurants and hotels in Veneto, and I am sure that just by looking at it, it will definitely become part of your Wishlist. This restored mill from 1570 is extremely beautiful, harmonious, and original. Its location, between the lush Venetian countryside and Treviso, brings even more charm to this boutique guesthouse, where you will feel like home immediately you step inside. This is Locanda Rosa Rosae, an establishment where originality has its name.

Elisabetta and Silvio are the owners and architects of this wonderful project. When this married couple discovered this completely abandoned water mill, they fell in love with it and, under the belief that it had to be recovered, they started their adventure. A challenge that took four years of hard work and research to transform a ruin into a beautiful guest house that maintains all its original identity with a magical energy and a unique soul.

The rehabilitation was carried out in a meticulous process, considering the building's history and the austere character of the building. They used old and recycled materials, leaving the walls bare down to the brickwork and preserving the untreated floor and beams, along with the mechanisms that still work.

To give life to this amazing space, the owners have based their decoration on austerity, elegant and essential with few well selected objects and with a strong character, where wood is the main material and a clear choice of antiques found on their travels in France and Morocco. Unexpected pieces, such as the Eames rocking chairs, break with a monothematic interior design. The ground floor has small dining rooms, along with the storage area, with great details: wooden boxes, an antique scale, chandeliers, huge lamps, books or crystal lamps... Flowers, greenery and candlelight are the other elements that contribute to create an atmosphere of romance and warmth.

A weekend or a few days' getaway can be a perfect time to experience all that Locanda Rosa Rosae has to offer. Its four stunning rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, retain vintage character without renouncing comfort. In the morning you'll wake up to a full breakfast service, which can include everything from exotic fruits and ricotta cheesecake to freshly baked Moroccan-style eggs. Don't miss the chance to try their coffee. Afterwards you can enjoy a tour of their private vineyards, a bike ride around the village or simply relax in their rooms, such as their covered porch, or by the streamside.

It is in the evening, when the spell is set, when the dinner is prepared, the tables are carefully dressed, decorated with flowers and illuminated by hundreds of candles. Only guests and those who have obtained their coveted reservation are the lucky ones who can enjoy this banquet..

I assure you that the dinner itself is a real feast for the senses, something I could never have imagined. All the food is homemade and carefully prepared. First, the tables are filled of cheeses, olives and  antipasti, , but don't let this plenty tempt you, there's plenty more to come. Next, a primi is served, then a  secondi using the freshest ingredients of the day, all served with good broths, and finally, a plentiful table of Italian desserts including homemade gelato casero, tiramisú, panna cottasemi freddo. Time passes slowly and almost stands still as this evening will absorb at least 4 hours.

No doubt its walls are home not only to beauty, peace and familiarity, but also to large doses of inspiration and love. An area to bring out and share emotions. It is not surprising that more than once it has become the setting for weddings. Who would like to join this rustic getaway that takes us back to another era?
