On my last trip to Mallorca, on the road from Sóller to Deià, just before reaching the sea, I found a recently opened hotel with charm, ... lots of charm. Set in a 16th century farmhouse with magnificent views, this hotel is owned by British fashion photographer Kate Bellm and her partner, multidisciplinary artist Edgar López. As you can imagine, despite its apparent simplicity, nothing is left to chance. And you know that I particularly love that! As I got to know the place, it became clear to me that their creative talent gives shape to the project with a simple, yet nuanced style.

They had chosen for the transformation of the building the Deià-based architecture studio Moredesign, known for their work in the Balearics. The design of this hotel in Mallorca has kept many of the original elements, such as the courtyard and a small chapel, while the interior spaces have been completely remodelled, as the property has passed through different owners. I can assure you that from the very first moment I was fascinated by the design of this wonderful hotel.

The 15 rooms were conceived as a blank canvas, where art and community are the main theme. All the elements: furniture, lighting, accessories, textiles... are custom made exclusively by local artisans from local materials such as wood, brass, clay and alabaster. I don't know about you, but these natural materials are familiar to me. The decoration of the rooms is characterised by soft, organic shapes that create a serene atmosphere with great poetic force, where smooth stone plays a fundamental role, together with colour, as can be seen in its application on the walls and bedding. Its creative soul and community spirit are reflected in the works of art distributed throughout the hotel, the result of its artistic residency programme. The resulting pieces are also exhibited in the gallery at the end of each participant's stay. Without a doubt, the place is meant to be a source of inspiration and it has left a great positive impact on me, which will be reflected in my future creations.

It was impossible for me to ignore its setting, as nature is another of the fundamental elements of this luxury hotel, which shows  itself in a pure and wild state, surrounded by mountains, sea and vegetation.

As it could not be otherwise, staying at the Hotel Corazón has been a complete experience: swimming pool, massage sessions, reiki and yoga... I plan to come back to enjoy the exclusive excursions to caves and coves, the boat trips and the occasional picnic on the beach...

And what about its gastronomic offer? Grace Berrow, the chef who opened the cult restaurant Patiki Beach in Port de Sóller, is in charge of the kitchen. The focus is on local, seasonal produce,
many of them from her farm, grown using organic, traditional and regenerative farming techniques. Her menu, which evokes simple Mediterranean dishes, emphasises the natural flavour of the ingredients and can be enjoyed in the open-air dining area and bar, with views of the Tramuntana mountains.

As you can see, at Hotel Corazón, luxury and simplicity are inseparable. Everything is custom-made and handcrafted with a simple spirit. Here, adventure is guaranteed and freedom reigns. In this hotel, I felt at home and I have returned with so much inspiration that I already have some notes for my next post. I feel renewed, with a fresh mind and the desire to tell you how my new Ofelia Living has turned out.
