Whether I can travel or not, I keep looking for special places to visit, or to save them on my list of "places to visit" when all this Will end, and I believe it will. Between long weekends I have been scouring the neighbouring country looking for a nearby paradise and, I have definitely found it in the Alentejo.

A spectacular sustainable hotel, located in Comporta - an idyllic town of white and blue houses - is set on a 17-hectare estate, amidst sand dunes, farmland, pine and cork oak trees, and next to the stunning Carvalhal beach and the natural reserve. This boutique resort, designed by the prestigious Portuguese architect Miguel Câncio Martins, blends traditional architecture and the natural environment but with contemporary design. This is his particular tribute to the village where he grew up and, perhaps, his most personal project as it is the place where he spent his childhood holidays, being part of his identity, legacy and family tradition. As he describes it, "a place where families and friends meet and come together to slow down and reconnect with what is important in life".

Welcome to Quinta de Comporta! EThis oasis where nature, elegance and sustainability come together, thanks to our commitment to the environment and the local community. A place where you rest, feel and connect with nature and learn from it. A gateway to the Atlantic, to the vegetation,... in short words, to stay at this hotel is to enjoy true luxury, a gift for the senses.

From the architectural lines to each of the decorative details, most of them refurbished and pre-existing, it is designed to merge as much as possible with the surrounding rice fields, recreating the constructions of old warehouses, fishermen's huts and typical dwellings, it aims to be a reflection of the structural personality of the area, to the extent that the joinery work is carried out by local artisans.

Its 65 rooms, suites and villas convey an atmosphere of serenity and comfort. Each of them is inspired by the traditional houses of Comporta, representing a minimalist beach hut where noble materials, mainly recycled, such as wood, wicker, glass, stone and ceramics, are the principal elements, with rustic furniture, natural fabrics and ochre tones. While the local barns are the source of inspiration for the other two jewels of the complex: the restaurant and ORYZA Spa. An open concept connected with nature provides each room and all he retail spaces with stunning views.

The gastronomic proposal is another of its distinctive features. A culinary journey, where you can discover authentic, natural and Mediterranean flavours prepared by chef JOÃO SOUSA, who combines the freshness and simplicity of his dishes with a contemporary style.

Its cuisine includes seasonal dishes and natural ingredients from the local area, from the sea to the land. It also has the privilege of fresh fish from the coast and a careful selection of locally sourced organic products, to provide a unique and genuine culinary experience by respecting the original attributes of each element. You can enjoy it in the restaurant with wonderful views, in your room or enjoy it in the middle of nature or even on the beach. Yes, they have take away.

This is not all there is to it. Its Orza Spa in front of the huge rice fields uses this product as a central element of inspiration for its innovative treatments, which can also be combined with meditation, yoga and pilates classes.
