It's been a few weeks since we've been meeting up with friends and family again. That's why this time I've used this change of phase to get out of the house and pay a visit to my friend Marta Carmona, better known as  Martahouse_s on Instagram. I can't think of a better place than her home for this reunion. Every corner exudes authenticity and, besides, it has a terrace!

Marta's house is divided into two floors. It is a home that invites to be shared and experienced. Diaphanous and open, the different rooms are not separated, but coexist in harmony. This, in addition to giving it a lot of space, facilitates its functionality, without reducing its cosy character.

If there is a central element in this house, it is undoubtedly the dining room, presided over by a large table made from aged wooden slats and a metal structure. A few well-chosen elements, materials and natural fibres do the rest. An open bottle rack, together with a stand for glasses, make the most of the space and animate one of the walls of this space. A vintage fridge and a display cabinet, which reveals precious pieces of household goods and antiques, are the proof that this is a place to be experienced, where comfort is king.

The rest of the furniture and auxiliary seats show us how important meals and celebrations are in this house. To prove I am not exaggerating, you can see this gastro corner that Marta created and which, as well as being a pleasure for the senses, is a tribute to the old kitchen designed from inherited antique pieces. It is again remarkable the wood used in the variety of tables, boxes, trays, benches and coat racks, as well as the cotton textiles and the enamel kitchenware, which of course, they use daily.

The dining room is joined to the living room, which along with the kitchen, bathroom and the small bedroom, form the entire ground floor. The constant use of noble materials and the exposed brick walls give unity to this space even though it has two different ambiences, marked by the wooden beams on the ceiling of the dining room. The swing and rocking chair complement the sofa and add an original touch without overloading the space. The perfect place to relax after a meal or at the end of the day.

The vegetable fibres of the cushions, rugs and tablecloth, together with the ochre, white, blue and mustard tones fill the space, even though it is simple. And finally, a barn door, self-made from wooden floorboards, divides the kitchen, adding character to the wall. This is one of the pieces Marta is most proud of.

The small room has a small balcony, it is as practical as it is beautiful. The built-in wardrobes have been refurbished by Marta, and so have the finish of the bunk beds. In this case, the dressing room is closed. Marta cannot hide her passion for natural fibre textiles, from the carpet to the sheets, linen, cotton and neutral colours that create a very balanced ambience.

The upstairs, also open plan, opens onto a desk that leads to the master bedroom. Her house is always in constant evolution. For example, the bed that has been in her home for 15 years was manufactured by Thai craftsmen and then, sometime later, she painted it white with an antique finish. It is one of her favourite pieces, along with the decorative wooden door on the wall, which is about 40 years old and was brought from her partner's grandparents' village. Wicker, textiles, which she renews on a regular basis, and small handcrafted objects add touches that make all the difference.

On this same floor is also the terrace, recently refurbished and ready to enjoy. Again wood, bamboo, wicker, natural fibres for the carpet and the rest of the textiles and plants complement the place. There is a sun lounger, a sofa, a table for outdoor dining and even a Balinese bed! Now you will understand some of the reasons why I was so excited to tell you about this home. Thank you very much, Marta, for opening the doors of your home to me.
