This month I say "hello" to you from my home now that it is no longer a place to pass through but a place to live. Popular culture states that we are only aware of what we have when we are in a critical moment. During this month I have felt it in my own. This confinement allowed me to rediscover my own home, to feel it as it deserves, to understand it as a shelter and to enjoy it as a comfortable and safe place to be. To recover the value of the everyday, a place to be, to stay and to take care of oneself.

That is why this month, I have decided to share my home and the secrets that make it an unique place for me. I invite you to visit it with me.

If I tell you that one of the most important places in my house is the kitchen, I'm sure you won't be surprised. It is the heart of my home. Where the time I spend cooking is time I spend taking care of myself, where I spend hours preparing something delicious with all the care and, now yes, with all the time I need. Cooking at low heat, trying dishes that I had never tried before, creating new ones, preparing menus so that when all this is over, I can celebrate with a meal with friends and family. The kitchen is still the best place to meet and share. That is why it is an open space with an island that also serves as a bar and gives space to a large dining room. As you already know, I like to receive visitors.

Just as the kitchen is characterised by the mixture of noble materials, such as marble, wood or brick, my table is a combination of textures, colours and materials. Even the chairs have different designs where it is the colour that unifies.

I have not given up setting my table, or dressing it, since confinement began. Especially every breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack or dinner is a celebration and I give more importance to this ritual. Not to mention Sunday brunch.

Glasses and stemware in different colours and designs, plates and bowls with different finishes, placemats, table runners, napkins and any kitchen accessory give dynamism and optimism to these moments of the day and allow me to enjoy them even more.

The living room is another of the spaces with the most life in my home, both when you used to have visitors and there was a livelier atmosphere, and now that I enjoy it alone, either with a book, a film, a phone call,.... or simply resting. A large and comfortable sofa is the base for the rest of the furniture, which I can later change depending on whether the environment is more intimate or more social and invites conversation. Always complemented by textiles such as cushions and blankets that make it even cosier.

Coffee tables and side tables are essential at this point. Not forgetting the decorative objects that define the character of the room: candles, antiques, photos, pictures, old bottles, vases, where glass and wood are mixed, the styles are fused,… giving a very authentic touch.

As it is the largest room, I like to create small corners for different activities so I can make this area of the house very versatile and adapt it to my needs with smaller and more practical furniture, light rattan and wicker chairs, stools that sometimes can be used as extra seats or as side tables, baskets for organising,...

For instance, I take advantage of the brightest area to sunbathe indoors with a quick read or while having a snack. The rugs allow me to make more use of the surfaces and the floor also becomes a warm place, where I sometimes sit or do yoga.

Transit areas such as corridors can also be decorated and enjoyed. Between the kitchen and the living room I have a rest area separated by a rug where a wider chair takes centre stage, perfect for adding some cushions and which I normally use to have a cup of tea before going to bed. In this corridor a wooden bar is my favourite place to have breakfast and it becomes an extra piece of furniture when I have a meeting at home.

Sometimes I use these areas for storage, so that the rest of the space can be free. I don't mind if the furniture is visible and allows you to see the objects inside. I love display cabinets. They are like little museums that say a lot about me.

I must not forget the entrance hall, the transit point between indoors and outdoors. With just a sofa, a few plants, some decoration and a side table, the entrance already has a unique touch. If before it was the place where my guests left their bags and coats, now it has become a place to rest and a window to the outside.

The bathroom is another place to visit. I haven't stopped my self-care routines and this is the ideal place for it. A good bath accompanied by aromatic candles, a mask,... or even a hairstyle that I had not dared to try and leave the house are a good excuse to spoil and dedicate some time to myself. A large mirror generates space and comfort to complete all these tasks. A piece of furniture and a shelf allow me to have everything I need organised in a very accessible way. Metals, tiles and wood coexist here too. The white walls add luminosity and highlight the furniture and taps

And the king of the house these weeks is my inner courtyard. Its narrow and elongated layout is no problem for me. Here the pots and plants are at free rein, and the outdoor furniture and candles make the environment very versatile both during the day and at night.

Finally, the bedroom, defined by three elements: wood, textiles and soft light. These three components invite me to rest just by crossing its door. A large wardrobe and the bed are the main pieces. The change of textiles and small decorative objects, allows me to renew it according to the seasons with more subdued tones during the winter and cooler in the summer. And always with a fragrance diffuser  on my bedside table to help me relax.

This is my home, the house to stay in and to live in. My temple and my daily oasis. Today more than ever I value more than ever the chance to enjoy it.
