With the arrival of autumn, I always like to take advantage of those last rays of light and bright colours nature gives us. I recently organized and outdoor meal with my dear Lupe Herrera, who gave me this table decoration, where it reflects the warmth and charm we love so much this season. Today I want to share it with you, along with some table decor ideas for this autumn. I hope you will get inspired and encouraged to decorate yours, filling any corner of your home with magic. Remember that every day we have the opportunity to enjoy small pleasure, and a well-decorated table can change even the most ordinary day.
Once again, Lupe decided to set the table in a natural setting, leaving the background landscape as part of the autumn decoration. The earthy and reddish tones of the ground are combined with the force of the table colours, achieving a harmony that only autumn can offer. As you can see, it doesn’t take much more to create a welcoming atmosphere; nature is already doing its job. The objective was simple: to enhance what was already present.
At the table, she chose to use a combination of intense and varied colours typical of autumn: dark purple, deep green, and touches of brown, based also on the sweet to taste, a cake made with seasonal fruits and decorated with figs and blackberries. This palette added a delicious contrast that looked as good as it tasted. To taste it nothing better than my handcrafted crockery Palma, which stands out for its details in striking colours. An excellent way to add colour without overloading the set. Its vibrant tone prints will certainly add joy to the scene.
If there is something in what Lupe and I agree, it is to pay attention to the details. For this snack, we decided to use cotton napkins in purple tones, as they blend perfectly with the landscape and provide a delicate touch. Drinking glasses were also part of the decoration, along with household textiles. Its transparent finish highlighted the rest of the pieces, reflecting the light of the evening fall.
If the weather is not so good, you can take nature indoors, including its most organic look:
- Choose a colour palette that matches the environment and the season: purple, green, brown and natural tones such as beige or white are always a success.
- Add natural elements; seasonal fruits such as figs, blackberries and grapes, which are delicious and can serve also as decoration. You can also place some green leaves or dries branches to give it a rustic style.
- Use noble materials: wood, ceramic, linen... because they add texture and warmth. For example, you can combine the cotton textiles with placemats made of natural fibers.
- Select outstanding crockery: a design with colourful details, like the one we are using here, or with unique shapes that can become the focal point of the table.
- Do not forget to include your personal touch: a glass vase that matches the tablecloth or the antique wooden board to serve the cake. Maybe they are simple tableware items, but they make a difference.
Without a doubt, autumn is the perfect season to appreciate the small pleasures: a meal outdoors, a meeting with friends or simply the pleasure of being surrounded by the beauty of this season itself. The table decoration not only embellishes your space, but also invites you to enjoy more, if possible, your home.
You don’t need a special occasion to create something beautiful; sometimes, a simple autumn day is reason enough for celebration, don’t you think?
