I am increasingly convinced that our home decoration influences our happiness in some way. Our home says a lot about us, how we are, how we live and how we feel, but it also contributes to our mood. Each element in it is at once part of ourselves. Therefore, I advise you to always choose furniture and accessories that you not only like, but also are in harmony with your values and your personality.
Decorating an entire house is not an easy task, it is best to focus on a room and shape it through the designs, textures and colours that best define our style. But with what space should we start? You can do it with the one you want, of course, but the living room, being the central room of the life at home, is perhaps the most appropriate. We spend a lot of time in it and, whether you want to design your home from scratch, or if you have decided to give it a new look, you can get a lot out of your decoration.
Living rooms are usually spacious and light, but they also need a touch of warmth that makes them comfortable and pleasant. These are features that make it part of our home and that differentiate it from the rest, and are in the type of furniture we choose, in the accessories that accompany them, in the textures and colours and in the type of lighting that wraps everything.
When we plan our living room decor, it is unthinkable to imagine it without a sofa. I think it is and will always be the most important piece of this room. I, personally, like beige for the fabric of these seats. It is the perfect alternative to white if we want a timeless, light and warm atmosphere. Cushions in this room are a must. When it comes to choose the coffee table, both the material and its height and shape are important. I opt for wooden tables; I like the ones that have a natural finish and boast a textured surface. Better if they are large, but there are many options, depending on the space you have available, of course. But a low table cannot miss in any living room.
Keep in mind that the living room is the room of the house where we usually meet family or friends, so a carpet or rug is a decorative accessory that creates style, provides texture and can be used to delimit the area. Through it you can bring a touch of colour to the space, creating contrasts that always brighten the eye.
The decorative care we have in the living room will be essential so that both we and our guests feel comfortable, in a cozy and pleasant environment. It is not necessary to fill the room with accessories to see it well decorated. A floor lamp next to the armchair can be perfectly complemented by a table lamp placed in the other corner. If you opt for an original design, put it on a side table and you don't need much more. Auxiliary furniture is always a great ally, so I never do without them. With a few adjustments, you bring functionality and improve the overall lighting of the space.
With what small details can you finish your living room decoration? I can think of many options, but as candles are my weakness, then candle holders can be perfect. Dare and combine them, glass and wood, high and low, some modern and some antique... They are a classic that is back in fashion. You can also think about the usefulness a decorative bowl can offer you, it is a very versatile piece that fits into any atmosphere.
As you can see, I like paying attention to every detail. It’s like giving the importance a home deserves. And in the end, when we decorate with all the senses, it shows. Make your house talk about you, feel a nice connection with it and get the most out of its decoration.
